The Blessing of Dr. Mary—My Elisabeth

I want to share a story about someone special to me—Dr. Mary, whom I affectionately call my Elisabeth.
You might remember that I faced rejection at the Ukrainian embassy. Dr. Mary was the one overseeing the admission applications, and I only had her cell number at the time. After arriving in Turkey, I began to notice her WhatsApp status updates, and I felt a deep connection to her.
Dr. Mary’s journey is nothing short of fascinating. She earned her BSc in Botany from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Great Ife!  and then pursued her M.D in Ukraine. Currently, she is in the United States studying for her Master of Public Health (MPH) Oh, at the time I published this blog, she graduated already!. Isn’t that amazing? She accomplished all this without a lot of financial resources and without being bound by a strict timeline. It’s as if she was in sync with God, seeing beyond conventional constraints. I’m incredibly proud of her.
During a challenging time in my life, when I was having some hard time with a situation. Dr. Mary helped me realize that the situation  itself isn’t the problem; it’s how you perceive yourself and the narratives you tell yourself that can be destructive. If you can’t relate, you might not grasp the weight of those words. She reminded me that even when we stumble, we are still children at heart. We should return to our Father, who desires to embrace us, no matter how dirty we feel. The devil wants us to believe we’re unworthy of love, but our Father wants to cleanse us and claim us as His own. Imagine a flawless father proudly caring for his imperfect child!
I hold Dr. Mary in the same reverence as Minister Sola Alyson and Apostle Femi Lazarus. They all convey similar messages to me, albeit in different forms. I call them oracles. Minister Sola Alyson shares this wisdom through her songs, Apostle Femi Lazarus through his teachings, and Dr. Mary through her loving sisterhood. She refers to me as her sister, and I cherish our bond, even though she is >ten years my senior.
As a former student of Botany, I aspire to pursue my MBBS and am currently looking forward to my Master’s in Public Health. I often say that my visa application and subsequent denial to Ukraine were not setbacks but rather a divine setup for me to meet this incredible soul.
God bless Dr. Mary of Uncle Deeee!
