The Best Wine

So, guys! I’m currently on the train to Lagos from Ibadan, writing this with a cracker biscuit in my mouth, hoping someone offers me a bottle of water because mine is almost finished—and can you believe it’s 300 naira for one? I’m ijebu, please don’t look at me that way! 😅

First Things First: How Are You?

As for me, my chest no longer hurts, so I’m doing just fine! Let me share a quick story with you.

Do you know the popular story of Abraham trusting God enough to sacrifice Isaac? I was listening to our father in the Lord, Daddy Omolehin, explain this story, and it got me thinking.

God had already told Abraham that through Isaac, he would become the father of many nations. So, how could Abraham still trust that after slaughtering Isaac and burning him, God would still fulfil His promise?

The Chemistry of Faith

Honestly, I don’t know! In chemistry class, they taught us about chemical reactions and physical reactions, with permanent reactions being the chemical ones that include combustion.

Now, let’s use our imagination: what kind of magic was Abraham expecting God to perform after he sacrificed Isaac? Apparently, Abraham believed that after slaughtering Isaac and burning his body on the altar, he could gather the ashes, call on God, remind Him of His promise, and somehow, Isaac would come back to life. Wow! Can you imagine that?

As I write this, “Labisi Mofaramo” is playing, and I’m feeling all mushy inside. Recently, I reminded myself that in the beginning, there was pitch darkness, and God called out light from that darkness. The light that emerged billions of years ago is still shining so brightly that no one can look directly at the sun. And remember, He called that light out of darkness. Wow!

Trusting God’s Word

How do you trust in the word God has spoken? Now don’t give me that “I don’t hear voices or see visions” line. God’s word to you is in the Bible!

For every situation you’re going through, there’s a love letter God has written for you. This very week, I started blaming myself for missing out on an opportunity. I was filled with regret. But then I spoke to Dr. Mary, and she reminded me that if I lost something, it’s okay—the God who made that opportunity available has something better in store.

At first, I thought, “You didn’t even say similar; why better?” But then I remembered the wedding at Cana. In a nutshell, God’s replacement is always the better version.

Nothing is Truly Lost

I also recalled something I heard somewhere (I can’t quite place where) that said nothing on this earth is truly lost because it’s still here.

So, what’s my word for you today? Don’t worry—you never truly lost it! It’s only when you give up on having what you want that you’ve actually lost it. Did it go through a chemical reaction? Then don’t fret; the better version is just around the corner. All you have to do is push for it in the Spirit, thank God for it, and let your faith speak!
