Here is an incredible backstory of events that had unfolded behind the scenes—truly a testament to being Abbas Benefit Girl!
Upon arriving in Turkiye, I quickly noticed that everyone seemed to know each other. I was often asked which center I took my entrance exam at, and I found myself puzzled. “Exam? The last exam I wrote was for UNILAG!” I laughed. My new friends were amazed that I had secured admission without taking an exam. Intrigued, I asked them for the full story.
It turned out they had been on this journey for months. They were required to attend tutorial classes and take an exam, known as the YOS exam—the Turkish equivalent of JAMB. They shared stories of their hard work and the challenges they faced, many of them failing spectacularly despite their efforts. I couldn’t help but chuckle at their experiences; at least they had fun along the way!
Curious about my own path, they asked how I managed to get in. I explained that I initially applied for a visa to Ukraine but was denied. Fortunately, my Uncle (God bless him) came to my rescue. His wife, (God bless her), had heard from a friend about opportunities in Turkiye and encouraged us to explore it. My uncle traveled all the way from Abuja to Lagos to make sure that it went smoothly.
We visited the admissions office, where I was asked to provide my WAEC results. To my surprise, that was all it took! Before I knew it, I received my admission to study diploma in Dialysis, followed by an appointment date in Abuja, and soon after, my visa was approved.
It’s amazing how God works behind the scenes!
And as my friend Leah often says, “Oh Mide, you’re graced!”
Hehehe! Just a reminder: this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put in the necessary work for any process. Yes, I may not have gone through all the steps deemed essential to achieve similar results. Whatever your hands find to do or you need to do, do it well. Remember, some people might not have to work as hard to get the same outcomes. But ask yourself: are you one of those people?
