The fruit with a “P”

I recently watched a reel where a woman shared her reflections on wishing she had enjoyed all the seasons of her life before achieving everything she thought she ever desired. Now, she’s living out her dreams—she’s married to the exact man she envisioned in every way. This includes her job, her home, and her current situation. Essentially, her life at that moment.

So, why am I starting with this? Why worry too much?

Remember the fruit of the Spirit that starts with a “P”? Yes, that’s right—Peace.

Take a moment to look back a year ago. As at then, could you explain exactly what’s happening right now? If you’ve been speaking your desires into existence and holding onto expectations, perhaps you had a sketch of where you wanted to be.

Last December, I wrote a list of ten possible outcomes I was confident would be my reality as at the end of 2024. I reluctantly  even added an eleventh item: “Whatever God wills.” As a  reminder that logic doesn’t always prevail in life; sometimes, life has its own plans.

Now, looking back, none of those ten situations came to play, like none came to fruition. Thankfully, I included that possibility number eleven and was at peace with integrating it into my list of probabilities.

Let’s do an exercise inspired by Apostle Suleiman: Imagine you had just three more hours to live. What would you do? Think about it—tick tock, tick tock. As you read this next line, remember that you don’t have as much time as you had when you read the question initially. I can assure you, all you would want is peace—or as the grammar enthusiasts might say, tranquility. So, why not start cultivating that peace now?

I used to complain to my mom about how I understood that 1 + 1 can equal 1, 2, or even 10. If you’re puzzled by that, just let me know, and I’ll explain. Yet, despite my understanding, I struggled to make things turn out the way I wanted. Everything felt chaotic—everything.

All I could see, smell, feel—basically sense—was chaos; hence, worry activated.

One day, my mom asked me, “If you had everything you ever wanted right now, how would you spend the rest of the days the Lord has given you? You will keep wanting more. It never ends”

You always need to work toward something. Have you noticed that at every moment, we’re always hoping, wishing, and wanting something?

Isn’t that what makes life fun and exciting? It gives us something to think about, something to look forward to, something to hope for. That’s life!

In my people’s language, na wetin dey make life roll be that.

Lets look into the love letter that was written to us for us and let’s see what it says in John 14:27

I will read from the Amplified version

“Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]”
